Default After market Tach....

Alright......


I have an 88 Civic hatchback with no tach in the cluster..


i got a after market tach for xmas and still have no luck with knowing where to instal it


it has 4 wires...


black - Batery (-)
Red - To Ignition Switch 12 v (+)
Yellow -Battery 12V (+)
Green - on standard ignition green wire attaches to coil negative (-)


so black, yellow, red.....got that part


where on the distributer does the green go...


pictures maybe???????????



any advice would be gracious

i believe you just have to tag a spark plug wire...thats how the ones iv'e hooked up worked
i could be wrong though im sure someone else will have an answer for you

You can save yourself time and energy by tapping the power, ground, light and tach wire into the wiring harness for the gauge cluster. In the pic bellow the tach wire the #11 solid blue.

lol yea find it alot nicer to just use the oe wiring than have to run wires all over the damed place. On my 96 dx the previous owner had a 3" sunpro tach installed and the installers ran a tach wire all the way over to the passenger side, thru a grommit and dirrectly to the tach..... but they tapped power off the screw terminals on the back of the gauges... So any time I see these kinds of post I try to search for the OE wiring pics, it's a life saver.

sorry but i have to say thank god you got a small tach like myself.......i hate those huge 5" flava flav clock tachs. especially mounted to the left of the instrument panel, it takes up the whole dam window. i guess people get the big ones so they can see it better but if you need something that big to read you SHOULDNT be driving!!!!!!!!!!!!
