the alpine type x is a pretty good speaker. and whoever said anything about it being close to a w7? no, those subs sound AMAZING. i have 2 type R's and love them and i have heard one type x and its nearly the same. mrd-m1005 mono amp and one type x.

A type X wont come close to a W7 A W7 will outpound and outsound a type x anyday but dont get me wrong Type X are still nice subs. But I would look arounda little bit more. For a little more money you could get a harder hitting system if you wanted to. I got a JL 1000/1 amp, 12W7v3 and a power cap coming for $800 soon.

The L7 is a ok sub, I am more of a SQL guy over SPL. The L7 gets damn loud with the right box and power.
7 cubic feet + 750wrms does the trick.

I was thinking more along the lines of like 3 cu ft tuned to around 35hz with around 1200rms, the box you suggested will make a L7 sound like a wet fart

I did mine the way kicker spec'd it. 7 cubic feet tuned to 35Hz with 750wrms (the max RMS rating for a ported box). I'm going for SPL though.
