Default amp connections

I have a 2004 civic hybrid and I want to hook up a amp and sub but I dont know where to hook up the amp to. I think it's some where at the back of the radio but which panels or parts do I have to take off to get to there?

u need to see if u have preouts on the back of ur amp... if u dont theres a box (ill give ya the name tomorrow its to late..) that u can get it hooks onto your back 2 speakers and pulls it from that, sounds about 85% as good as if it was preouts but still its nice :-) i did it for a couple months with my 06 civic and preouts... ill find Screenshots from when i had it

ok i'll try hooking it up that way. it will be a lot easier too with hooking it up in the trunk instead of haveing to take apart the front dash to get to the back of head unit. i'm guessing it shouldn't be that hard to run the power wires to the trunk. i'm going to install it this evening and post how it dose.

STOP!

You CANNOT, i repeat, CANNOT hook an amp to a hybrid. It is impossible. Hybrids have 100% different electrical systems that are wacky as hell. Go ahead, take your car to any reputable good car audio joint and see if they will throw an amp in your car. It's not going to happen. Im sorry to say, involving an aftermarket sound system with amps will not work out for you.

As one of the leading car audio gurus of the forum I strongly advise you turn away from it. You will not be happy with the results.

What are you talking about? I just did an amp sub in a toyota prius and it worked just find. And by the way, you will need to pull your stereo out either way. Your stock stereo will not have pre out, you will have to buy a line output converter. What your going to need to buy is:

1. 2 Channel RCA's
2. Amp install kit (could be 10, 8,4 gauge pending the size of the amp.)
3. Line output converter.

All of this stuff can be found at your local car audio dealer. If you are not familar with installing car audio, take it to a reputable dealer, for example Circuit City, Best Buy. Sub Amp install is usually around 65 bucks but well worth it. No stress, plus they will back there install for life.

yay I just hooked my amp and my sub and it works. well... almost. I cant turn the volume over about half up or else it stops making all sound and it will cut in and out. any ideas? I hooked it up by pulling the back two speakers and I put them to the RCA connections on the amp. For power I ran a wire under the car from the trunk to the battery (the normal 12 volt one). ohh and i used 6 guage wire from the amp to the sub. another problem is that I dont have a RMT to turn it on amd off now so I put a switch from the power on the amp to the RMT.

I dont know about that man...

I was talking about that to my local shop (who are the big dogs in the city) and they told me they wont touch a hybrid. Hell, if they got the ***** to work on XC90's (which are fiber optic and the only ones in town that will work on them) and they tell me that hybrids are too irregular for the amps.. im going to believe them. I also personally sat with and inspected this one dudes hybrid accord inwich just like my old garage said... it was screwy, really screwy.

Call your respected local shop and tell them you own a hybrid... and see what they say. Hell, google it. Actually, Levii works at a shop, he might say the same as me.
