Default Any suggestions por favore?

Excuse the poor spanish :P I'm not sure if anyone remembers the dilema I had, the moron who installed my CD player before I bought my 98 civic decided it was best to get a CD cage with side locks, and a cd deck that had the sides blocked off (it was meant to be unlocked on top). A few frustrated hours and dash board disasembalies later, I finally got the CD player out just to realize I don't have the right cables to do what I wanted to do. Here's the question, in short - I want to hook my Zune up to my cd player. In my old car I had a tape deck, so that was easy. I can either - A: Buy a new cd deck (this one is ****) with a zune input or 1/8" stereo jack, buy an FM transmitter (which hardly work well, music is very important to me, especially the quality), or go to a junk yard and swap my stereo for a stock tape deck from the same gen. civic. To add twists the story - I'm leaving the country in June and there's a 90 percent chance I"m not taking my car with me and I'm on a limited budget. What do you all think? If I went with the tape deck would any 96-00 civic work? Would the wiring be just like wiring a new cd player in? Sorry for the typos, I just got off a 8 hour shift on top of having to play therapists for some friends that are going through college related couple issues XD It's been hectic to say the least.

As long as the factory wiring plug is still intact (should be a adaptor connecting it to a the plug going into the back of the deck) than any 96-98 civic stereo will work (simple plug and play).... If you're not going to be keeping the car than I'd not bother spending a dime more for this operation than you need (aftermarket parts including stereo equipment do not increase the car's value..).... Now if you were going to keep the car than I'd go with either a new deck that had AUX inputs (front will be headphone plug, rear will most likely be rca's), the FM modulator is an okay option but for the most part they're flakey and can be more of a pain than they're worth (had a cigarette unit that played MP3's off a usb thumb drive but it's initial frequency was below the normal spectrum and it never remembered the station used when shut off...).

He basically summed it up
no need to waste money on a car you are not going to keep, unless you want to get the cd player for the car, then take it out when you leave and take it with you wherever you go, sell it or install it in a new car
there's tons of choices, to be honest all that members could really give are opinions on this, it's up to you to decide really

Opinions were all I was looking for I just called a local junk yard (full of jackasses. My first experience there I was looking for a gauge cluster and the guy argued with me for 5 minutes on how only 96-98 would fit in my car. I kept telling him no, all of that generation will. Finally he grabbed and realized he was an idiot) and he kept telling me I wanted a CD player and not the tape deck. Even after I explained my situation he still insisted I got a cd player instead.... I hate people like that XD

I have a sony cd player in my 96 civivc and it has an aux. input that fits the zune or ipod jack. it is a way better quality sound than the tape or fm transmitter.

D Reyes - What cd deck is it?

I just called the parts store of the junk yard and they said they only have a 98 and 99 accord tape player for 50 dollars. Should I just wait and get a new deck or.... any opinions? Is that a good price? Ebay has nothing. Does anyone know any sites that I could order this from?

Another question - does anyone have a cd deck with a USB port? If so, does that allow you to play MP3 players (Ipod, zune specifically) or just flash drives?

I never even thought about that.

I would guess it's just flash drives, as they would probably advertise it as a full speed i-pod, etc.. built in control.

But it would be pretty damn handy if you could link a handheld up to it via USB. We need someone to check that out.

i have a friend with a kenwood head unit, said he can do it on his with the right adapter, without the right adapter theipod thinks its connecting to a computer and tries to sync music.but im not sure about on other headunits. but the easiest way is to just plug it in through the auxilery jack.
