If your car came with air bags... it is NOT legal to remove them. Period.
Your insurance company will hang you out to dry.

It's technically illegal to remove or disable a functional OEM airbag unit.

The only exception (for street-able vehicles; to which DOT / NHTSA ever admit ...) is that you can petition DOT / NHTSA for a waiver to insert a cutoff switch (a la the passenger side) for a driver's side airbag. Permission to do this is usually based on medical / physical issues (e.g., seated within 11" of the bag). If permission is granted, the only modification allowed is insertion of a cutoff switch - *not* removal or permanent disabling of the airbag.

I've **heard** that there's technically no requirement that forces you to replace an airbag unit that has deployed. I've never found any regulation or document that proves or disproves this common rumor. If there's a federal DOT / NHTSA requirement to replace a deployed unit, I've never found it ...

It's a federal law. If you get into an accident with the airbag removed, your insurance won't cover it, and you could be held liable.

You should not remove an airbag. It's against the law.

If you remove, change or tamper with an airbag, you can be subject to the Defective Air Bag Law.

Any person who unlawfully removes or tampers with an airbag can be subject to a fine of not more than $5,000 or imprisonment for not more than one year in jail or both.

Whoa this went off topic quick..... But yes i know how to do it. and can someone say carbon fiber mount????

any way it is a lot of work and you need to be comfy with fiberglass work....

first you want to take off the airbag and cover the entire piece with clingwrap (so you can recover the oem piece. Then put some fiberglass cloth on the the airbag and put your resin on the cloth and smooth out the air bubbles(take your time this is the negative)... Once dry pull out the airbag and what i would do is put more cling wrap in the negative then spray some great stuff in there that way you will be able to have something cheap to play with and toy around with.... once dry and cured you can take out the foam and shave out a cavity the exact size of the psp then cover it in fiber glass and you will be good to go..... make sure that you shave a very small ammount of foam off because the glass will add a small ammount of size to it overall..... And you could also use carbon fiber if you are feeling frisky
