Better CD reciever install dash kit?
Hello! I have a 2001 Civic ex. I just got a new cd reciever and all and need to install it. But I noticed the dash kit that came with it looks like garbage. Crap plastic and forces me to remove the nice stock pocket with door for a little crap plastic pocket. Is there a better install kit out there than the Best Buy one to make for a much cleaner installation look?

If it's just a normal size cd deck shouldn't it just slide in to (after installing the metal cage) where the other one is now?

This is what I'm about to order: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+-+HA1567.html
I thought I saw somewhere that somebody found a single DIN dash kit for the 7Gen civics that had the pocket /w door... Haven't been able to locate it though.

The cd player would fit in the hole fine, but the thing is the face on the dashboard isn't perfectly rectangular, it has a triangle shaped piece that comes off to the right that would make a nasty hole if the new cd player were installed. I've seen a couple of install kits but they all use really bad plastic that doesn't match and require you to take out the whole thing below the deck itself. I could do it with some cutting I think, but I'd rather keep my stock deck intact in case I want to replace it.
Haha, yes - there is a metal cage behind... Like JAMfire said, it's just the plastic face of the dash that's not the right shape... Check the link I posted above - the factory radio is built into that strangely shaped piece of plastic with a pocket underneath... There is a normal DIN cage BEHIND there, you just need to replace the stock dash piece (which is attached to the factory radio) with this new dash piece so that the hole in the front is a single DIN.
Again - sorry if I wasn't being clear with my explaination.
JAMfire - the one I see most commonly online is the Scosche unit - I am also worried a bit about quality and fitment. What are you currently looking at?

The one I've seen is very similar to the one you posted, except instead of 2 cd case slots it had an open pocket. It was from Best Buy. I also looked at a local audio shop and it looked like the same one. I asked them if they had a better kit and they said there wasn't one made. But I figured someone here would have a better idea.
Update:
Aha! I found one that you don't have to remove the nice stock pocket to use, just the cd player surround.

Looks like as close as I'm gonna get without cutting up a stock player to make my own kit

I got the kit installed, this is a great option for those with the cool doored pocket. The plastic is very good and matches the texture of the rest of the dash. Way better than the ones you get from crutchfield or best buy.
