^^^ what he says is right, turning everything all the way up can blow the amp, if you wanna do it without blowing it, start with everything down, and keep going up until they blow, or until you dont wanna go any higher, not worth wasting money to blow a speaker, lol

Just start with the gain all the way down and turn your HU up to 2/3rds volume and turn ur gain up until you hear distortion, turn it back down a little and ur good.

well said^^ somebody give this guy a cookie for explaining the right way a person should tune an amp (with out getting technical) you'd be surprised how many people come to me or call me about blown subs/ speakers/ amps asking why they are blown. Than i go examine it and ask them how they tuned it and they are like "it wasn't loud enough to beat my friends so i turned the settings up" lmao

we do it all the time at work to warrenty speakers i've never seen it hurt an amp.
we were bored one day so we put factory 6 1/2s in a obcon and hit a 143 in the port on a termlab.
it was pointless but somehow fun

If you turn the gain all teh way up in order to the blow the speakers you will do damage to the amp, if you see it or not is a different story. But you will shorten the life of the amp.

here is how you blow factory speakers...find yourself a good 1,000 watt amp (or close) make sure you can bridge it...then bridge the amp...and wire up your factory speakers using your sub "patch cable" my factory honda door speakers were 12 watt rms, 50 ish on the max.....this will blow them up, and not hurt your amp. because well, you really dont need to turn up your gains at all....oh and, if you want a complete walk through...the next step will be...turn on your car, and turn volume to desired level...

http://www.bcae1.com/ Go search clipping, I don't feel like explaining. Basically clipping an amp pushes an amp to do more than it can. It's like a 150lb kid trying to lift up a giant boulder. The kid more than likely will hurt him self.

? but my amp. (and any thing over "wal mart" level can) handle having there gains all the way up. my friend has his amp bridged to two subs and i has lasted him 3 different sub selections. (now it pushes 1 12.) mine can do the same, and my old 600 watt could. i dont have my gains all the way up because im over powering1 12, (some times two when i hook the other up) and it would cause them to distort hard core.

i think you dont want to explain clipping because you cant...but who knows.
