I know that most of you have probably seen the new cars where everything is a touch screen. Well, I was thinking about doing that to my civic. Its a 95 and the controls are all in the center which means I can just put a touch screen there and then get it programed to work all my air controls. Any thoughts?

 

Thoughts? Good luck with that? The problem with the controls for the heat/ac in a 95 civic is they are manual controls not electronic so you would need to interface a computer with actuators to move the controls. If you are interested in putting in a touchscreen and car pc, your best bet would be to figure out a way to relocate the controls somewhere else and just use the pc to control music/nav/dvds. it could be done, but would probably be way more trouble and $ than it would be worth in the end, if you want to do it take pictures along the way would be interesting to see that

 

The fact that you even had to ask means you should just forget this. You dont have the skill set to do it. And unless you have more money than you know what to do with you can't afford a job like this.

I am not trying to be mean. But I know what I am talking about with this. I use to do high end Home Automation. This is more trouble than you can even dream about.

 

i have a full touchscreen pc in my car and thought about doing this with mine but its wayyyyy more hassle then its worth..... i just rock my car pc i am more than happy with that since few have one

well lets face it it COULD be done BUT way to expensive! hell ya have to move the touch screen controls dont ya? so is it realy that much harder to just touch the stock air controls.LMFAO

 

do NOT waste your time... not unless you had it professionally done, even then it'd be very hard to find someone to do it for you.

 

The effort can be put to better use.
