Default Car Alarm LED's

I have an alarm currently in my car from the previous owner. It's a Canadian Tire alarm, not sure of the brand.
It works well, the only complaint is that the flashing LED for the alarm is mounted near the right of the steering wheel on the dash.
It's not that noticable and would like a flashing LED on the front windshield like i've seen a lot of other cars on the roads.
I'm just wondering where I should go to get one? I was thinking just going to bestbuy and asking them if I could buy just that from them.
What do you all think?

Yea, I thought of that but I want two LED's so people coming up from behind the car can see the LED mounted on the dash and people approaching the car can see it in the windshield. I just don't want to take any chances. I want to make sure people see what's going on.
I appreciate your input, but would Best Buy let me just have the LED or what can I do?

I just found this thing on Ebay, I'm probably going to go for it. Looks decent enough, after all I just need a flashing LED.

Yeah but with that ebay one it's something your going to need to turn on every single time you leave the car unless you somehow wire into the exisiting led. I suggest, if you want leds on the front and back would be to get a seperate led, check out oznium.com and their forums, and wire the second led into the first one so it runs and turns on at the same time the security system is set on.

It's easier to explain then be done but that would be a better approach if you have some sort of knowledge to wiring and such. Maybe take some pictures of what the led is connected to and I can help you wire the second led in with the first.

Would these be a good idea to mount on the top of my dash, so people would be able to see it from far enough away in front of my car? I don't know what the current LED is connected to since the previous owner installed the alarm but here is a picture, its the red light next to the rear defrost, below gas gauge as well.
Also would I have to drill a hole in my dash to mount the LED in the link?

Oh well take apart the dash and see what wires go into that led. If its just a basic power and ground just simply wire the second led into those exisiting wires. It depends where you put the led on the dash. It shouldnt be hard to wire the second led up if the previous owner did it himself.

Are the prewired LED's that I linked earlier just a simple power and ground?

if you want to make an existing LED flash that doesnt already flash you need to make whats called a 555 timer, google it, and for a 2nd just wire it in, in series.

im pretty sure they have ones that just go off 9 volt batteries which are always on and last for ever since a LED takes so little power to run...

my friend has one in his jeep and i make fun of it every time i see it but still gets the job done.
