its prolly talkin about the peak power. but that series of subs is good my friend has 2 12s. and i olny have a 600 watt amp to power to 400 rms speakers that max out at 800 and they still are very loud but i need about a 1500 watt amp. but most likely that amp has 500 wtts rms.

sounds like you have nice friends lol as far as amps go I don't know a whole lot about them but Alpine makes very good high quality stuff

alpine makes a mono that pushes 400 rms. i thinks its the mrp-m450, it would match up great, just set the gain to about 3/4 of the way up and you'll be good to go

JBLs are good stuff, a friend of mine has 4 of those 12s in a ported box on 1000 watts(in a wrangler, lol)and it makes my hair jump. With one, you can get away with a cheap amp, I dont think you're shooting for spl records or anything. I have actually had bad experiences with alpine products lately. My friend burned his 12in type r on 500 watts and his v12 960watt amp fried. He replaced the type r with those 4 12s and replaced the amp with 2 memphis 500rms amps. Get on ebay and look for old zapco, ppi, american amps and whatnot. Those are all great quality and will bump and are pretty cheap now. You can take your car to just about any audio shop and they can set the gain for you if you dont know what you are doing
