Clifford Matrix 50.5x
hey if you want to remote start a manual look into the Viper 5701 and 5901. The have a built in setup that pretty much full proofs remote starting a manual.
the way it works is that when you park your car you have to put your foot on the brake, pull the ebrake and put the car in neutral, release brake pedal, then activate the remote start with the car still running, then turn off the car and the engine should remain on, get out and arm the alarm and the engine should turn off. then you are free to remote start the car and it guarantees the car is not in gear because if the alarm is ever set off or disarmed, then the remote start will not work.
I know that this would work great for me because i'm not very consistent on where i leave the gear shift when I get out. sometimes i leave it in gear and sometimes its in neutral. but if you ABSOLUTELY ALWAYS leave it in neutral, then I guess this isn't really necessary.
and if this really bug the crap out of you and you hate it, then you can just program it back to automatic mode and it will work just like any other remote start system

Just wondering, what is the difference between the Viper 791x and the Clifford 50.5x?

They seem identical, I heard that maybe the clifford has a farther range???

the alarm itself should be exactly the same. other than that the siren, keypad, and LED are the only things different.
and all Directed alarms that use the SST transponders have a range of around 1 mile, so that is the same between the two.

Another question, it comes with a shock sensor but is that the only type of sensor that can be used with the system? See I was also looking at the Clifford 12.2x alarm system (no remote start) and it had similar features but it seemed like it had more inputs for sensors maybe??
that is not the only sensor that you can use. the shock sensor is the sensor that comes with all alarm systems. you can add on other sensors also but you will have to buy them seperately. for my clifford 50.5 i have the shock sensor, glass breakage sensor, tilt sensor, hood pin, remote trunk solenoid, window module, backup battery, piezo siren. all hook up to it, so i think the viper and the clifford should give you enough input to hook up the stuff you need. btw, the difference between the clifford and the viper is the remote and the led. IMO i like clifford remote better than the viper. the clifford has the carbon fiber look with the black buttons. my girlfriend has the viper and it is blue with an orange button and the rest are gray. also the led indicator the clifford one is red and the viper is blue. i bought a seperate blue led to replace the red one. IMO looks a lot better.
yes that would work, but the benefit to having the window module is that it is voltage regulated so that it will shut off when the window is all the way up or down. Doing it with a relay will run a much higher risk of burning out the window motor.
