Default components, mount them or not?

ok i got some alpine type r's 6.5" with the tweeter as a separate piece thinking that they would fit in the stock spot on my 98 civic ex. well now i know that they don't. should i return them and get the ones that are one piece, just not mount them and use the stock ones, not mount them and not use the stock ones, or mount them. i don't know how much the sound quality will differ either way??? anyone have pics of mounted ones, is it worth it sound quality, looks and time wise to mount them???

Have you pulled the tweeter out of its housing? The plastic housing around the tweet can be unscrewed - it might fit into your stock location then.

i know for fact that the tweeter fits in the stock location cuz i have them in my car right now. you have to do what pirate said and unscrew the the housing and get down to just the tweeter and it fits almost perfectly.

as for mounting it. I used some epoxy to hold the tweeter in place. I did it about 6 months ago and have had no problems at all with it.

and dont use the type r woofer with the stock tweeter. the crossover is designed to seperate the frequencies and the power between the alpine tweeter and woofer and it will not sound as good on the stock tweeter

if you wire the stocker through the component, it might sound ok if it doesn't blow. other than that, you won't hear a night and day difference, but it will be a good little increase.
