Default custom box question

i have a 08 civic and im wanting to build a custom box, i have 2 brand new 10" rf p2's and i dont want to put them in just a regular box, i want to build a box that fits in my trunk but i want to reverse them as in like having the magnets showing and the face of the sub facing the front of the car. my question is, is there anything i need to be aware of will building this box, how much volume should be inside the box or anything like that...any replies will help..thanks

hey,
from what I know from a real good friend (who owns a rim/sound shop), the smaller the box, the better..and you get better sound if the magnets of the sub are facing the inside of the car because the bass should bounce off of something and then into your car..

The best and easiest thing to do is build a small box that will fit both subs, then mount it down in ur trunk, then build a long piece that fits the entire length(side to side) of ur trunk so it looks like a custom job/box..after putting that piece on, then mount ur subwoofers onto it.

I did my car like that, but a lil bit more intense..my outer piece is just a flat board, not part of the box..take a look n lemme know what u think..

i think what he's talking about is inverting his subs...... it doesnt matter if there mounted with the magnets out......look in your owners manual for your subs and see what the reccomended air space is..... some subs like a small box and some like a big one...... for instance a D9 12 likes .78.... it has a perfect Q at that voulme..... which means a very flat response.... very good for SQ.... at 1.25 theres a bump in the response at like 40HZ.... so it will play that more efficiently....
so depending on what type of music you listen to you can taylor you box to your style..... hope this helps

The only major things to consider when mounting subs in reverse are slight loss of effective piston area (Sd), reversing the polarity (so that the sub fires out instead of in), and putting up with possible motor noise.
