In-Dash Installed!
Finally had a pretty nice day in West Chester (around 55 degrees), so I put my son down for a nap and went right to work outside in the driveway. Here are a couple pics of the new hot-ness in the Civic. It's a Pioneer AVIC-F700BT.

I have an Alpine 5 Channel amp, a sub from a RSX type S (Bose) that fits into the spare tire, and new 6x9's to install, but I don't have enough time pull interior pieces out and start the wiring process just yet. Let me know what you all think!

nice... screens a bit small but you got navigation... i wish i had navigation for my indash units! but i dont want to fork out another 600-1500 just for add on navigation to my alpine
Got the whole system for $380 shipped, brand new. The dash kit was from circuit city ($6.00), who told me that he has never seen a double din kit for 99-00 Civics. So I figured since it was $6, I would find something that looked about that size. Ended up walking out of the store with a double din kit for a Ford Ranger/Mazda pick-up. A little work from the Dremel made it fit great! Now I am just waiting on my Ipod Interface cable so I can hook my Iphone to it.
And addiction, I wanted a bigger screen, but I couldn't spend much more money on my car as my tax refund check is gone....already. lol
I wish it had like a detachable face, for some sort of theft prevention. I sometimes worry about it when at work or at certain friend's houses (Philly area). I guess I just have to start looking at some nice alarm systems etc.

well if your worried about your investment be sure to use the rear bolt hole for the radio and secure it to a metal strap and secure it under the dash somewhere tight... that way they cannt just yank it out!
just about every radio has a rear mounting hole so you can secure your radio from the rear... downfall is they stoped including that dam bolt at least with the last few radios ive got ive had to just try different thread size bolts to get the right size.
and ya i know what ya mean about the detachable face part... my DD alpine doesnt either.
and for my alpine install i didnt use a dash kit. i screwed the radio to the metal mounting brackets and them trimmed down the alpine trim ring to fit.

turned out pretty good. but i did enlarge the holes on the metal bracket a bit for a slightly better look.
i like both my alpine dvd radio units. my civic has the double din, and my truck has the flip out.
the DD is cool because its face has a vibrate feature that makes you feel like your actualy pushing a button when you touch the screen, but the flip out doesnt.
but the flip out has a detachable security thing which is cool but ive never detached it yet, im just to lazy plus i have full coverage insurance if anything does ever happen.
both radios have pros and cons thats for sure.
