ok so i scored some new polk mmc690 carbon fiber 3-way 6x9 rear deck speakers for my 1997 civic sedan.
and

i put some dynamat around the edges of the place to mount the speakers

then i just put the speakers overtop the dynamat and used these little metal mount things to screw the speakers into the rear deck...
so my question...
did i use dynamat right? and i have a lot left over.... what else can i do with it?? thanks guys.
can i just cover the whole rear deck?
also...i have a kenwood 800watt peak and 150x2RMS at 4ohm amp....
the polks are 100RMS and 300max 4ohm... can i hook that amp up to those speakers or will it be way too much power? thanks

Not really. You dont have to do the whole deck. I would personally just do mostly the middle and around the speaker cut-outs. The middle is whats going to vibrated. Also, make your your plastic back deck it put down properly because they are famous for rattling.
^^+1..i had a problem with the plastic rattling on my car, i had to take it out and add some stuff like dynamat, if you had alot left over...you can also put some around the front speakers
in my opinion dynamat is godo stuff if you do the whole car....
i put some deadener in my truck and it didnt help to much......
so only thing i deaden any more is problem areas! that are rattling and im sure thats the spots rattling!
my speakers i just slaped in and screwed down.

Im new here and I hope you don't mine hearing my opinions. From my experience dynomatting the speakers only isn't going to help much.
The way you have it installed is just reducing vibrational noise, but dynomat has many great things it can do. If you put it only around the speakers your not going to get much of a difference, you need to line the entire rear deck, with it to seal off the trunk from the car.
In my truck which is an extended cab, I have ~150ft of mat, 3 layers on the doors, one on the floor, and one on the rear wall. In a car it would take even more mat to do it real well.
Using dynomat only around the speakers will eliminate vibrational noise, so if you have a problem with that, then thats all you would have to do. If you don't have a vibrational noise problem then its not doing much for you.
