I have a 97 DX 4 door, and only one of the rear seats is movable (i.e, the latch is releaseable) the larger half is, the smaller half is locked in place. I took off the bottom seat, and got the two side panels off and even freed up the smaller half of the back seat, but to no avail it is like latched around something and umoveable. Has anyone else removed the rear seats in this car? Im just trying to get the rear deck off so that i can Edead it.

the tops seats dont fully come off...you just have to angle them to get to the screws holding those metal things on the side panels,at least thats how i got mine and im pretty sure thats the only way how.

ORIGINAL: Vadagar

it is like latched around something and umoveable.
I might be singing to the chior but, in my coupe, my ingnition key releases the seat backs so you can access the trunk (the hole is in the center of the deck lid and looks like the ignition switch in your column). Turn the key one way and it releases that seat back and turn it the other way and it releases that seat back...Don't break the key off in there though, mine sticks sometimes and I have to either push or pull on the seat back while working the key. I did not have to take the seat backs completely out to replace my rear deck speakers, just fold them down.

Does this help? [&:]

I did this along time ago. I removed the back cushion first b4 remove the seat. It's easier that way.

Grrr, why couldn't Honda be nice to us coupe owners and make the install as easy on the coupes as it is on the sedans. Oh well...

Well see, the turn key lock there in the back seat of my DX only releases the right side of the seat, the other side is unfunctional and stuck to the back of the car. How do i remove the top of it? I get it so its moveable up and down and around but still stuck to the damn whatever on the front of the rear deck.

that was a pain in the ***... tryin to get teh seatbelt buckles back into teh seat when reinstalling, and also on teh 00 i dont htink you can pop off the mesh. once i removed everything, i tried pushing it out from teh back and they didnt even budge, plus it was dark so i couldnt see. but now i cant get my baby harness(i think thats what they are) back in right... the plastic wont click in.i made sure the washers were all in and everything.

i have a 98 dx and if yours is the same as mine that lock goes both ways.....one way releases the left and then the other way the right side at least thats how it suppose to be....I dont have anyone ever ride in the back seat so i undid the belt buckle and the third seat belt out and put the side seatbelts behind the seat when i put it back and it looks cleaner.
