I've got a 1992 Civic hatch Si.... Its only got 2 speakers, one in each door. They are currently 4". I've had a think, and i recon rather than screw around with putting some 6X9s in the back, i should start by putting some larger speakers in the doors. I am happy to enlarge the holes slightly, but the speaker must be less than 50mm deep from the mounting points due to the window. I think i could put something between the door and the speaker to make it further out alowing a deeper speaker. Is water protection nessesary? The speakers installed standard have a plastic enclosure to keep them dry. The holes at the moment are not circular and at their narrowest point are about 5.5" wide. I'm thinking a pair of 6" speakers will do the job. What do you think? Has anyone here done anything similar? Does anyone have particular recomendations about the type of speakers i buy?
