Just bought a 96 hatchback, and want to replace the factory speakers. I measured the door speakers and they look like 6", however I can't find 6" anywhere, am I mistaken and these are 6.5"? Anyone know?

they are a true 6 1/2 speaker. Be carefull that most aftermarket speaker companies call their oversized 61/2 speakers just 6 1/2. Check out Boston Acoustic FX6H. THe H is fon hondas cause they fit perfect.

 

Yeah, they're 6.5s, but the cutout might be smaller.

 

Forget the 6.5's they suck compared to 6X9's anyway. I bought some kick panels off Ebay for $10.00 and I'm going to custom build some 6X9's I just picked up into them. I'll have to post pics when I'm done.

 

Also, the civics have hella shallow depth on the doors so be careful. ^ btw, in my experience and express opinion, 6x9s suck. Most of them sound like there is pluff mud stuck to them and many times the 'tweetage' is tuned way too hi and the mids flake out at hi volumes. Id take 6 1/2 any day over 6x9's.

 

Fair nough, I'm a HUGE fan of highs though, and I just run a high pass through the amp, and then I have my subs for low's. That gets rid of that muddy sound (I hate that on 6X9's too)
