Default External HD Hooked up to

I want to get an external HD and then hook it up to my deck(http://www.crutchfield.com/p_500CDA9...4.html?tp=5684). Will it work? Cause my cousin has over 200gb of music and said he could just give it to me. Do i need to load a program or anything onto the HD or what? thanks. Also if it matters here is the HD i was looking at. ----> http://cgi.ebay.com/500GB-USB-2-0-72...3D50%26ps%3D48

that drive needs an A/C plug that you would have to plug into a wall outlet. As for it working on the cd player i dunno if it will work the same. Just get a car pc :P

also it might have a max size it supports and it has to send the correct voltage through the usb cable for the drive to work so if its not the correct voltage it could burn it up. Also, the drive has to be formatted a special way for it to even recognize it. You could give it a shot but get a drive that doesnt need an external power source as you dont have anywhere to plug it in.

yes i know an inverter will work but its a lot more of a hassle and then there is stuff everywhere haha and looks like crap and is more work then needed. Do a google search for max supported size then you will have your answer.
