200-300 isnt going to get you much. I think most people agree that Viper is one of the best alarm systems. But its like 500 not including installation which you should get professionally done.

.. I have the Viper 791NX which is one of their Top models.. and $300 covered me. Yes if you went to a professional outlet the 791 would run you about $600+ installed. I bought the alarm itself from amazon.com ($230 shipped), I then went to a local install shop and had them put it in professionally for me for $100. This alarm allows you to add any Directed brand module (there is i believe about 40+ different modules you can add, such as automated windows.. press a button on the remote and you can make your windows go up and down , basically just cool stuff like that and of course better security features.) So all in all i spent $320 on a top of the line alarm.

Here is a pic of my 2 way remote.

We sell the basic viper alarm for 269 plus another dollar to install it. That will work fine for you.

Why not get Lojack? I heard it not only gives the tracking system service but you can get add ons on your factory alarm or any other aftermarket alarms. Its a bit pricey (around 600-700) but if you know a friend who just bought one you ask them for the $200 rebate they got with the manual. Its like a referral program they have.
