Have you considered getting a 1999-2000 dash and convert your 1996-1998 dash to it?
1999-2000 dash:

1996-1998 dash:

The 1999-2000 dash is a double din (pretty sure) while the 1996-1998 is a single. With the head unit you want to install it would need a double instead of the single you have.

^^ Brian857 is 100% right. You would have to switch to a 99-00 climate control set up. Here's mine with my Pioneer AVIC-F700BT.
There are some write ups/DIY guides on how to do the conversion. Search around, you'll find them.

Don't thread jack holy civic. If you have a question, make a new thread. Please include if it is a stock system, and what year civic you have at the least so we can try and help you.

If you have a 96-98 stock radio you will need to take apart the dash to remove the radio since it is bolted on behind the dash.

Intalldr has great guides on radio removal. If you have keyless entry you will have to keep your stock radio in the car hooked up using a wire harness from crutchfield. Also I found out if you have power locks you can get keyless entry from buying a $30 remote on ebay and programming it, just keep your stock radio.
I placed my stock radio back in down by the cup holders.
