hey hope you find the forum to be helpful,
ok first off, mixing subs is not a good idea as i normally ends up sounding like crap, the subs handle different amounts of power in different ways, ect,ect.... please just buy 2 subs when you get some.
secondly, make sure that box the JL is in if it is sealed, has a seperater in the center, i would hate for your sub to be using all of the air in the box alone.

lastly, if you must have bass now instead of saving up, dont skimp out on quality, stay away from low quality (sony visonik ...ect) i found this one which will most likely meet your need and allow you to use it on your speakers after you upgrade. http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...roduct_ID=3949 hope this helps, any other questions, let me know.

Agree. When you get some funds, or are going to come into some, sell the box on ebay, and or the 1 JL sub, and put that cash in your stash, then go out and grab you a dual set of identical subs, or buy 1 very nice 12, a DVC version, and get 1 smaller amp thats bridgable, 1 sub, set up right, will rock pretty well, on a budget.

also is the kicker enough watts for 1 12 inch right, so later on when i get another jl i can just buy another kicker amp. that look pretty clean two. does that trunk lining stuff stop the ratteling.

well, it depends what model that sub is, honestly bro, ide save my money and start from scratch, use the box if you want, get that cheap kicker to push the jl for now, and when u get money sell it all and start over, thats gonna be your only fool proof way of doing it without risking somthing screwing up like that old JL wearing out and breaking.

But to answer your question simply, if its a W0 or W1 yes, it will be enough to get it bumping.

And no, that lining stuff won't stop ratteling, it just depends on where the sound is comming from. It's probably your trunk, or liscense plate mount or bracket, some simple foam insulation will do wonders if its placed close to the vibration. I have it surrounding my trunk liner, and I can't hear a single shake back there.

Rattles are annoying, like anything else. The first step to getting rid of one is locating it. If you can pretty much narrow down the rattle, you can figure out, just takes some listening, and feel of the different parts of the trunk, underbody, etc.

Alot of people have rattles inside the lower section of the trunk, "where the tire is", if you don't have a hatch that is. Sometimes there are things like tools, jack, etc, that are touching bare metal, and jarring like crazy with the subs.

More then anything its the liscense bracket, which a few cuts of insulation foam should kill, and other times its the actual metal in the trunk or elsewhere. If you can find it, you can fix it, and without that expensive dynamat stuff.

Do some trial and error type stuff next time you see your friend, together you can find the problem.
