keyless entry

Default keyless entry

so the guy at my local shop said my keyless entry wont work with a aftermarket stereo and the stereo had to be stock. but i had a hard time finding that true. does anyone know about this?

With door poppers, lock/unlock key pad, stock decks arent required. Sounds to me like they were just yanking your cucumber.


EDIT: Thats for aftermarket ones like alarm systems etc. If you talking about the stock entry system i cant answer that.

yeah it was with the stock entry system, im not going to swap out my stereo just to be able to un lock my doors with a remote rather than a key haha. it still has the alarm.

I read somewhere that you could buy an adapter to go with an aftermarket receiver and still have the keyless entry. Anyone heard of this?

Yes they do make an adapter to do this however you have to keep your factory radio and bury it behind the dash.

Exactly. It's just a Y harness that gives your stock reciever power so you can stuff it in your dash and keep your keyless.

And you can also add to the factory stuff. Add a remote start, or security system....just tag the wires behind the factory radio...
