loose speaker bad???
i recerntly installed new pioneer 5 1/4 front speakers. the left one is mounted, however i do not have the mounting hardware for the right one, is it okay if i cover it and keep it unmounted or will it harm the speaker in anyway???
IMO, i wouldnt leave it unmounted. Thats just asking for trouble. If you hit a bump it could jar the speaker and it could fall out of the speaker hole. Just grab some screws from the hardware store that look like the ones you used for the other speaker, screw them in, then replace the cover.
I have a 2002 civic ex and I'm wanting to change the front door speakers out. Could you tell me how you got the door panels off. I don't want to mess anything up on the panels so I thought I'd ask since you just did it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
well im not surw wut u mean by stock reciever do u mean stock head unit??? if thats wut u mean i have a pioneer head unit,i got pioneers 5 1/4 3-way speakers 180 watts max. they sound pretty good
if you put some electrical tape around your sperker wires so they cant touch metal you will be fine untill you can get them mounted...just make sure there is a bit of slack.Might as well listen to both of them even though you cant have both mounted, like i said as long as your speaker terminals dont touch wire you will be fine.
well it wont hurt the speaker as long as the wires are covered and wont short out if they hit any metal...
BUT you want to get them mounted ASAP!!!!!
not sure what ya mean by hardware? just the screws or the whole mounting bracket?
if the whole mounting bracket either go get some 1/4inch wood and make your own mounting bracket and screw it to the door and then the speaker to it...

heres the thing, the foam that is originally suppose 2 have been screwed in is messed up, no screws are goin in it anymore and its falling off the part of the car that it sticks 2, is their any otehr way i can get the speaker mounted without screwing it in??
well pull the speaker out and look at where those screws are suposed to go....
thiers a good chance its just a clip or a plastic piece that the screws go into...
either one of them should be easily swaped out with new pieces! autozone would probably have them... but if not dealership shouldnt be to much money for such a small item!
most likely its like a plastic chunk... if thats the issue you can just go to your local hardware store and buy a few larger screws.... the plastic hole is just striped..... just get some slightly larger screws and it should hold fine!
