More advice...
I've been looking into polk components for up front and I've read a lot of good reviews. Has everyone here had good luck with them? They had better reviews than pretty much every other system of similair price.
I'm also looking at an Alpine 70x4rms amp. I can't find any reviews on them, but I'm still concerned about all the complaints of harshness I've heard in the past.
Also, do you guys use caps or bass blockers?

i never used any components in the past(too much money for my tight budget) but i guarentee they will sound better than any regular coaxial speakers. if you are really into stereo performance then i couldn't tell you, but if you like jamming to the tunes in your car i think they would be perfect for that.
i have a capacitor in my jeep(not hooked up yet) but it was before i never really noticed a difference with it or without it.

My car has stock components.
I hear a lot about mb quart but they are way out of my price range.
I'm also trying to decide on a brand of 6 1/4's for the rear deck. I'm going to use adapters because I hate 6x9's.
I don't have any friends with systems or anything like that, so I can't go around and listen to different setups... that makes it hard to decide when all you can do is read reviews on the internet without actually hearing them.

Well what polk series are you looking into. The DB series polks sound decent, nothing special. Then you get into POlk MOMOs and those sound outstanding. They are a little more pricey, but well worth the money. Any route you go, i'd go ahead and buy a 4ch amp. You can filter out all the "bad" sound and make your music sound a lot better even at higher volumes. I have a hookup through polk, so if your interested, let me know. I'm running two 2 fared caps, and I can tell a difference with my electrical system. I don't get any dimming or anything, so I feel its worth the money. And for the adapters, check out www.crutchfield.com. You can put 5 1/4's or 6 1/2's in replace of 6x9's. Get back to me if your interested.
