my weird question
i just bought a 96 civic, it had a alpine tape deck in it, i replaced the deck for a cd player. while doing so i discovered the factory indash hidden down behind the console....still plugged in.
they ran the wires off of it to the tape deck...and that is my question, why? ive put in alot of decks, ran alot of wires, put in alot of systems, but ive never seen this before.....if any one could tell me why they did this, i would greatly appreciate it...

The light and i beleive the factory remote unlock is connected to the radio unit, so to keep those things you need to keep the radio connected

If you remove the stock head unit, then you will not longer have your stock keyless entry system.
If it is a big deal to you then you can always remove the stock headunit and get an aftermarket keyless entry system.
