Default Need Suggestions on a good sound set-up..

Hi all,

I have a Alpine CDA-9886. I think i have a good head unit to start.. Any suggestions on what speakers to buy? amp? subs? I mainly listen to alternative rock songs and basically pretty much everything.. pop to rap.. Budget wise, mid end ones.. not looking to joining competitions but good enough to have a good brand name and show off sometimes when provoked.:-)

Thanks all!

I am running full Kicker in my DB8 and sounds amazing. I have a Kicker ZX750.1 powering my single 12 inch Kicker CVX in a ported box, a Kicker ZX350.4 powering my Kicker KS 6 1/2 components in my front doors and my Kicker KS 6x9 3 three ways in the rear deck. Everything powered by a Pioneer DEHp-5900IB deck.

My highs are absolutely amazing and my bass is pretty damn loud for being a single 12.

Focals are amazing and are extremely well balanced, but are a little on the pricey side.

Infinity are also awesome and are a little more affordable.

well I ordered everything direct from Kicker because I work at Circuit City as an installer I get a 75% discount so everything I bought cost me about $550 but retails for approx. $1250/$1300

$1,000. Already have the deck. So its components in the front, speakers in the back, sub and amp. plus all wiring, install, etc.. So about $700-800 for equip...

I visited an audio store last saturday.. Quoted me $1200 all in for 6.5" morel components, db audio 6.5" for the back. A 300 W rms 1000W Kenwood mono amp. and a 12" (silver) kicker sub in ported box..

Pardon the equip list w/o the model nos... don't really know much about it.. just relying on what i hear.. Guys think its a fair deal??

infinity components sound great. and i also have a single 12" JBL GTO sub in a ported box which bumps more than some of my friends dual 12 enclosures.

i have a friend with pioneer 4 way speakers which sound great.

morel makes great speakers, they really do. heres the deal. i love the sound of polk speakers.. they suggest DBs in the rear... thats fine, but if u are going for sound quality, u dont want rear speakers. music is recorded in stereo..... not 4.1 or 5.1 so u need left and right only in the front. it will sound better and save u money.

get some polk MM or momo components in the front and get a small amp for them at least 75x2 or 50x4 and biamp them.
as for sub. i detest kicker, i think they ALL sound muddy and ive yet to hear of a sound quality competitor win or even finish top 3 in a compeition. kicker is loud... thats about it.

Subs that i know are quality, polk momo, polk mm, polk sr (2nd place world champ in MECA uses all SR speakers and a single 12" sr sub to compete, and has came in 2nd 2 years running), JL - from the w-0 up they all sound great, Image Dynamics any of their stuff, alpine type R sounds pretty good in a sealed box and can handle 1000 watts RMS, its a pretty legit sub.

Wires - http://www.knukonceptz.com/
BEST WIRING FOR THE PRICE - tell me what audio gear u get and ill tell u what to get for wires.
