Default New Audio System

I have a 2008 Honda Civic Lx Coupe. I am looking to buy a decent sound system with good bass. I'm not looking to blow my ears out, but just a little boost. I am curious as to how i go about purchasing a new dashboard kit? This store down the street has the specific model for my car and they are selling it for $100 all together with the kit, and wires. Is this a good deal?

This is the sound system I came across. From the reviews, It doesn't look too bad for the money.

Any help on this would be much appreciated, thanks.

To make sure i understand you....do you want a new sound system, i.e. new speakers, head unit, and add a subwoofer? or just a substage (sub and amp)

I'm fine with my speakers. Just subs and an amp. But I'm trying to figure out how to go about buying a new dashboard kit for the head unit I'll have to purchase also for everything to work.

You should be able to find one online pretty easily. Maybe bestbuy, onlinecarstereo.com....how much would you want to spend on the sub amp and box?

edit: So does your current sound system have an 8" sub somewhere? Not too familiar with newer civic systems...

I just want to warn you, if your 2008 Civic is anything like my 2007 Honda Accord EXL was, your factory head unit may perform an equalization function to make the factory speakers sound good. I haven't verified this on a Civic, but I do know this was the case with my Accord!

The point I am trying to make is that your factory speakers may not sound so great after you replace the radio due to the fact that you will be missing the equalization performed by the stock head unit!

Also, if you are keeping the factory speakers, I recommend that you keep your subwoofer size and power sensible. Adding one 10" sub to my Accord powered off of 300 watts RMS was almost too much because it out powered the factory sound system.

im running 2 12 inch KFC-W3011 on a KAC-8104D Mono amp. the only problem is that the amp overheats after about 10 minutes of hard hitting Bass. i would suggest kenwood Exelon series amps ex. eXcelon KAC-XR1 mono block amp...
