Noob Wiring Help...2 type x's
Hey guys i have two alpine type x's and a directed 2400 watt amp, i started with one type x 12" but i didnt want to blow it so i got another one but i am completly confused on how to wire the type x 12s. I have a really nice bass slammer vented enclosure and it has one wiring terminal. can someone please give me an idea on how to wire these 12's up?
i asume these are dual 4ohm voice coils......
what model is your amplifier? please be specific!!!!!!!
you need to be sure what ohm load that amplifier can handle! if you wire it to low with these subs at 1ohm it might fry the amplifier...
but if your sure it can handle a 1ohm load then simply wire all +positive terminals together and run to the amps +wire... and do the same with all the negatives together to the amplifiers - outputs.
realy simple!
tho word of advice keep all the wires the same length!
as long as your amplifier is a mono amplifier it should be just fine.. THO instead of using that preterminal i would just drill a hole into the box and run some larger speaker wires thru it and just use some liquid nail or silicone, or even epoxy to seal the wires to the box and seal the box.... thats what ive always done! those crapy plastic terminals break to easy and the wires come off all the time.. huge pain if ya ask me!

yes my amp is a mono amp and i appricate your help!! can can you be more specific like...
on each sub the voice coils are right next to each other
like
+ -
+ -
could i just run 2 positive wires from each positive voice coil on both subs and do the same for the negatives and have 4 positive wires and 4 negative wires then run then wire the positives to gehter and the negatives togehter and put them into the amp? i think im just an idiot...thanks agian for your time

Dude, always read the stickies, they are your friend: https://www.hondacivicforum.com/m_93609/tm.htm
first of all what is your amplifiers model number?
look at the amplifier and find the model number and post it for me here!
cause if your amplifier is not 1ohm stable it could fry your amplifier!
let us know that before we can tell you exactly how to wire it... make sure its safe first!

i really appricate you guys trying to help me but i just dont get it, i installed the whole amp wiring kit, amp, and my deck with no problems. My main question is...ok i have 2 subs with 2 voice coils each, on each sub there is VC1+ VC2+ VC1- VC2- ok it is like that on both subs, so do i just run 1 positve wire for VC1+ 1 positive wire for VC2+ a negative wire for VC1- and a negative wire for VC2-? or do i wire the positives together and the negatives together (on each sub) and run both a positive and a negative from VC1+ and VC1- and have VC2+ and VC2- wired to the first two? I know i sound like an idiot and i feel stupid...thanks
would this be ok? Thanks

yep he is right dont do it at 1ohm... if this is your amplifier then it cannt handle that low of a ohm load! at least from it specs it says not to....

now some people might run em at 1ohm BUT its a risk.... i wouldnt risk burnen up a amplifier... id sell it and put that money towards a beter matching amplifier..
what i would do is sell the amplifier and get another amplifier that is 1ohm stable, mono amp...
i would sugest a Orion 2500D.. thats last years model JUST BE SURE voltage doesnt dip under 11volts or it will self destruct.LOL i know personaly! burned up several before upgrading to a highpower alternator in my truck....
newest and beter model is the orion HCCA-D5000
im pushen thier smaller HCCA-D2400 and love the thing so far! no problems whatso ever!

i also have a d2400 that i was trying to sell b/c i didnt think itwas powerful enought, its is rated for one ohm though..would you guys reccomend using this amp instead? http://www.drdetailshop.com/dd2400.htm
