Default Question about the RCA Cables

I was working on my car and had to take the amp out. I took out the cables and now I'm not sure if I'm putting them in correctly. I tried putting them both in the two different holes and I didnt notice a difference. Here is a pic. So are they correct now? The top hole says LEFT and the bottom says RIGHT. The red cable is on the top and the black in on the bottom.

are they for subs? or for mids/highs?
subs truthfully it doesnt matter, and for mids and highs the only way you will tell if it is hooked up right is if you fade it from right to left. if you fade right and it plays on the left, then they are hooked up backwards.
