so 1 day i get in my car and noticed my radio didn't want to workso i took it out and hooked the stock radio back in and relized nothen would keep it's memory and my clock would reset. well i tested the acc wire and for some odd reason it is reading 8amps which i beleave it's suppost to be 12 but what could cause the acc to do that.. i had to run a power wire from battery to the radio so it wouldn't reset and id really like it to work right and not be hot wired. any help will be welcome

 

That's fairly odd behavior. Usually with electrical connections it's all-or-nothing: 0V or 12V. 8V is more rare. My guess is there's some kind of mechanical failure in the accessory switch (something like a voltage divider/potentiometer). Try opening that part of the steering column and testing the input voltage to the switch. If it's 12V on the input side when off, then there's a problem between the switch and your stereo. If there's 8V on the input side when off, then there's a problem between the battery and the switch.

 

well the accessory wire has nothing to do with the memory feature.... locate the battery power wire which should be hot with the ignition off.... if its not powered then check your fuse box....
reason power is so low in the accessory wire is probably because that wire is pulling all the power for the radio... which its not designed to do. the accesory wire is preatymuch just a turn on wire...
