Default rear speakers

hey all... about a month ago i went to best buy and bought a new headset(the thing CDs go into just in case its not called a headset) and all my speakers worked. then i went out and bought some loud front speakers. and about 3 days later the rear speakers stopped working. i have tried fading the sound just to the back speakers. still no sound. is it possible that the front speakers are taking all the juice. or do i need to go to best buy and have those guys look at it?

Close. People call them head units now.Back in the day they were radios, tape decks, CD players, etc. Did you get the speakers from best buy too? Either way, take it to best buy.

Umm, if you got a new head unit, and some new 'loud' fronts, chances are you probabily blew your rears completely. Get a new pair, match up the power ratings with the head unit best you can, unless you plan an buying a amp any time soon. If it was say a 30W OEM head unit output, then the speakers would have also been around 30W, then you switched to a 50W HU and put 50W fronts in but left your 30W rears in. As a result, they might blow when you were 'testing' how loud your new speakers are. Just a guess, feel free to correct me gurus.

I am leaning more towards some best buy clown making some loose connections behing your head unit. I would put 5 on it being a wiring issue. Take it back and demand they fix it, lol. Tell em you want some fuzzydice too for all your troubles!

:-)

ok i just went and looked to see the wattage stuff and the rear stock speakers can only handle a maximum of 50w of juice where as the front can handle a max of like 280 watts of power. the headunit says it gives out 52 watts of power. i looked at the rear speakers and there didnt seem to be any damage to the actual speaker. i bought the front speakers at best buy but i installed them myself, will best buy still look at it? i am going to my dads house tomorrow to use his fluke meter to see if there is any voltage in the rear anyways. i got a pair of these bad boys http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...711955,00.html those are some loud speakers

Yeah, they will still look at it.

The deck is what's not working, they installed the deck, therefore if for any reason something happends, even if you did install some speakers, they have to check the deck for issues, and rule out any possible issue that is being caused by their install.

There shouldn't be any reason that the rears just stop working like that, unless its a wiring issue. They probably had a lightweight crimping, and crimped some things wrong.

I still have factory fronts and I am feeding them 3 times the power they call for, they haven't blown yet.

well sorry for bringing up a really old topic. but i thought i would let everyone know that i just fixed it myself. i was gutting the inside of my car. and when i was taking everything outa the back of my car including the plastic panels to clean them. but i noticed on the left and right side of the trunk there were 2 unplugged wires. i plugged them back in and....waddyaknow! they work again.

im not suggesting foul play but i had a short stint at best buy and they do employ some shady tatics, bass blockers, redundant antennae adapters, and the like
