Default Setting 1300W RMS AMP

OK,I just installed a sound system in my 2002civic.I want to know what could be my best setting .First my system is :A sony 52x4W ,my amplifier is a 1300watt DIGITAL SOUND ,and my sub is a ROXFORT FOSGATE 10" PUNCH HX2 in the in a sealed perfectly ajusted box. My power and my ground wires and 8 gauge . I would really need some advice cause 1300w RMS on a 10" seems like a LOT of power .I dont want to blow something here and scrap my sub . thanks

^ +1 Yeah that amp is NOT going to give you 1300 W of quality. maybe 500W if you are lucky. and for that much you should be running 0 gauge wiring for both power and ground.

Well I will not use this system for competition or so ...I just wanted a average sound system that sound well better than the stock and with a nice bass sound .Maybe this amp isn'n good for compitition but for a all day car it a blast ! I made it tuned by a professional and he said it was a great system .I had it for very cheap to ..from one of my friend that was selling is car !

No way it's 1300 RMS.

He won't need 0 gauge. 8 is ok for 500 watts, 6 gauge would be a good idea but I don't think they sell that and 4 would be over kill, but good to have if 500 watts is a low-ball estimate.

Ohms Law: P = IV so: 500 = I x 14 so I = 500/14 = about 36 amps.

Here are gauge ratings:

Gauge:Load(amps)
0 : 150
1 : 119
2 : 94
3 : 75
4 : 60
5 : 47
6 : 37
7 : 30
8 : 24
9 : 19
10 : 15
11 : 12
12 : 9.3

As you can see, 0 guage can handle loads up to 2100 watts.

You might want to move the decimal 3 places to the left.

I was talking to 2002 about his amp wattage.

Judging by your amp. You will be fine with 8 gauge.
