Speaker size and new speaker suggestions

Speaker size and new speaker suggestions
I went to walmart last night and found some speakers by sony I liked. They sounded soo much better than the stock ones and better than the others in there.
What size do I need for the back and front for a 2001 civic coupe?
Is that JBL fit guide accurate?
I just came into some money and have been wanting to do this for a while. The speaker on the drivers door puts out nothing but a rattly noise and no real music. Its sooo bad. I guess its broken. And the fact the stock speakers have no bass.
Any speaker suggestions would be nice too. Here is a link to the ones I want.

The sony xlod I guess they are called. I had a model number but it didnt turn up any results. This is what they looked like though.
How do you install them in the front pannels? The back look simple....
I also need a install guide to take the radio out as I also want a new one.
Thanks

RE: Speaker size and new speaker suggestions
Alright, here we go (again)... I've started this post three separate times now but my browser keeps crashing... Third time's a charm.
Speaker choice: Those eBay speakers are the wrong size. Your door panel speakers are 6.5". Others on this forum with much more experience with car audio will probably be able to reccommend a good set of speakers to fit your needs, but it may be beneficial for you to go to components instead of just replacing the 6.5"s.
In terms of installation guides, here is a bunch of information I've compiled in the last month or so to help me with my install - just ordered my gear today.
I hope nobody minds me linking to a different Civic forum - if so, mods just edit out the links. I don't see the harm tho.

Removing factory headunit:
1) Honda guide - very detailed! http://www.handa-accessories.com/civic/03civaudio.pdf
2) Forum post - more concise but with relevant pictures. http://www.civicforums.com/forums/11...nda-civic.html
Wiring through a door molex. You may not need this if you are just using the factory wiring. I'm thinking about just keeping the factory wiring running through the door molex as well as I hear it's a pain in the nuts.

Amp wiring. Not sure if you're going to be adding an amp, but here's the information anyway. No pictures but good description.

Rear Deck Removal. I know you aren't talking about replacing the rear 6x9s, but it's a slippery slope and it's very easy to get carried away. Be careful - before you know it you'll be replacing eveything! Super detailed guide with pictures.

And finally, I found a link to the Crutchfield MasterSheet for the 7th Gen Civics. It encompasses nearly all of the above information, albeit in a much more compact form. It covers head unit removal/installation and speaker installation for your whole car.

Wow, I managed to get 'er all typed up without screwing anything up this time. Me > Firefox.
Good luck!

RE: Speaker size and new speaker suggestions
Check out http://www.caraudiohelp.com/newslett...components.htm for the differences between coaxial and component speakers. Basically buying components will involve replacing both the door speakers AND the tweeters (mounted in the sail panel), and mounting a crossover somewhere in the door panel. I've heard mixed results when people replace the factory 6.5" speakers in the door with coaxials (the speakers you listed on eBay were coaxials by the way) and use the factory tweeters.
Just some food for thought.

RE: Speaker size and new speaker suggestions
Basically
with components you are splitting the mids and highs between two speakers
this prevents one speaker from doing all the work
as well
relocation of the tweeters in certain places gets you the best clarity and volume and reduced distortion
but components often need to be amplified to be heard the best

So if I buy those speakers will they work? As long as they are the right size? How would I amplify them? I dont plan on moving the tweeters. Thanks

To amplify them you just need to buy an amp, wiring kit, hook it to your battery, do wiring jobs etc

The sony ones....
So amping is simple? Would it or the same amp work for a bass if I wanted say a 10 inch in the back?
Alright so they dont work good then by all means name some good ones because I am lost.9name some good brands/models)
What I want is good sound and good powerfull bass.
