Speakers
I have a set of 4inch speakers (pioneer) just laying around and was planning on installing them into the door panels. I did look around for brackets to use in the 6 1/2 inch openings, but i was wondering if I could use some pieces of aluminum or other type of brackets. I did find one on crutchfield but it's a huge sheet of plastic and I figure spending $20 for it isn't worth it. What do you all think I should do.
Thanks

You can make your door baffles out of just about anything. HDPE cutting boards that you can get at Target make a viable option because they are easy to get. The only downside is if you do not have the proper tools, cutting HDPE will be a chore. I am about to invest in a plunge base router with a 1/4" carbide upcut bit and that should rip through just about anything!
If you have aluminum, or scrap 3/8 to 1/2 inch wood laying around, you can use that too. A word of caution if you use MDF though.... Humidity, moisture, and rain will make it fall apart if you don't treat it in some sort of fashion!
I wish I had saved the factory door speakers out of my 1997 Civic coupe because I could have made some baffles for you I can't go by my door cutout because I modded the heck out of it to fit some CDT 6.5s that were a total disappointment....

i put 4.5" RF's in my doors, using 3/8 aluminum plate. was surprised when the factory speaker grills fit without modification. im a machinist though, so i had access to metal and the required machines. gonna do the same to my rear speakers, if i can figure out how to remove them. good luck.
