Default Sub Box Positioning in trunk....

Right now I have my dual 10" Subwoofer Box positioned to were it is pointing towards the trunk door, like normal. Would I be able to hear the bass better if I were to point the box towards the back seat instead of pointing it toward the trunk? Would it reduce the rattle of the trunk if I point the box towards the back seat instead of toward the trunk?

Just an idea.....

No, facing the box towards the seat back will not give you better bass. try it.....then open the trunk (just pop it) and listen to the bass INCREASE! This is called cancelation. The wave (cycles)comes forward, "bounce" off of the front glass, and dash, head te other direction, and cancel the contined oncoming waves (cycles)
Facing the rear of the vehicle, or better yet, one on each side of the trunk opposing one another is ideal. NO cancelation at all.

I have my subs faceiong towards the back seats. It sounds okay.
But I use my trunk alot, so thats the reason so things don't bang up against the speakers.

It does sound a bit better faceing the trunk, not the seats, like said before me, so unless you have a reason to face them towards the seat, keep them faceing the trunk.

theres nothin wrong with it facing the rear seats. thats the way i do it most of the time on my car. it really doesn't matter that much. i know addiction faces his toward the seats as well.

I have mine facing towards the trunk but I need some dampening to stop it rattling when the subs fire. I think that provides the best bass to be honnest. And when I had them facing the other direction, my sub box PERFECTLY fits the gap and when the seats were down, it was drawing the air out of the cabin and making it hard to breath. Haha a very cool sensation but made driving difficult if not impossible. Good for laughs but.

Thanks for the replies guys. I might just experiment with it and see/hear in person what the differences are. I will probably keep it were it's at, but I'll still try other positions and see what I think....

well the sub will sound beter firing front MAINLY from a beter tuning of the amplifier settings... cause with it front firing you hear every note! so you have the crossover and gains adjusted alot beter or SHOULD.LOL
and with front firing you do lose some low low bass cause you dont have that bass reflection from it bouncing off the rear trunk wall...

main reason i have mine front firing is for less trunk rattling with it sealed off from the trunk...... but second is style and security....
