are tweeters worth it?

who has tweeters and are they worth the trouble?

kanarrjl 01-11-2009 12:36 PM

yes they are worth it especially if you go with components but even if you don't they deliver a very clean crisp high

trustdestruction 01-11-2009 01:24 PM

definitely worth the trouble
my highs used to be overpowered by my mids, so i bought and installed 2" Pyramid tweeters/crossovers and now my highs are nice and clear, while keeping my clear mids.

burgernuds 01-11-2009 03:58 PM

is it possible for my alpine headunit to have crossovers already built in or do i have to buy them separately?

trustdestruction 01-11-2009 09:29 PM

usually the tweeters will come with the crossovers

if you don't already have new front speakers, or don't really like the ones you have, I would just buy a nice set of component speakers.

burgernuds 01-12-2009 04:57 PM

my front speakers are stock.
do i still need tweeters with component speakers?
cuz right now when i blast music, certain notes gets very high and it hurts my ears.
especially with rock music.

what level should my trebel be?
should defeat be on or off?
and does anyone use BBE with their alpine headunits?

and the tweeters that a friend gave me dont have crossovers says another friend.

trustdestruction 01-12-2009 04:59 PM

just buy a component set then

burgernuds 01-12-2009 05:17 PM

and do i have to add tweeters if i get components? do i need to buy a cross over?

is it okay if i dont hook up an amp to it?
i already have an amp but its hooked up to a sub but 90% of the time its off.

FlipHKD720 01-12-2009 08:23 PM

i dont have an amp to my Pioneer tweeters and they sound amazing. They A LOT bigger difference in sound quality than you first think. Get new ones ASAP

components are tweeters and a speaker in one set http://www.alpine-usa.com/images/pro.../spx-17ref.jpg

probably wouldn't work for components anyhow

burgernuds 01-14-2009 04:44 PM

hey my friend just gave me this, do i need a crossover for them or can i just hook them up and go?
http://www.millionbuyplus.com/images...YXSR6941-E.JPG

they are 4 way speakers

and i just got some JBL cross over boxes for my front tweeters and speaker, any ideas on where I should put them or how I should hide them between my door panal, glue?

inthezoneac 01-14-2009 06:26 PM

I have boston acoustic tweeters that have never been installed. Their smaller than the stock tweeters and I have no spacer to mount it. I could mount it, but there'd be an empty ring around it between the tweeter and the mount/pod.

kanarrjl 01-15-2009 09:58 AM

you don't need crossovers for the sonys the jbl crossovers just put them inside the door where they are not gunna hit the window when it rolls down

burgernuds 01-16-2009 05:59 PM

thanks guys, what do u think about if i only installed a tweeter in the front passenger side? I think 4 way speakers with a total of 4 tweeters in the back and 1 in the front is plenty.

gunz4me 01-17-2009 12:22 AM

Um..... allow me to interject here. You really should have your high frequencies up front instead of in back. I am going to be mean here to put things into perspective.... When you go to a concert, do you turn your back towards the stage? If your answer to this question is yes, then putting most of your high frequencies behind you will be fine.

OK, now I can be nice again. You would be far better served by spending more money on better door speakers than throwing money away on your rear deck speakers. At most, rear speakers should be used for fill-in purposes not to blast tunes from behind your head.

kanarrjl 01-17-2009 06:20 AM

^ditto and you wouldnt want just one tweeter anyhow it would be off balance unless you were using it as a center channel

burgernuds 01-17-2009 07:19 AM

well i cant be too choosey, every speaker ive gotten is second hand from my cousin, but thanks though i'll definitely take time to install that 2nd tweeter up front

abhikcar 01-23-2009 02:20 PM

Yeah! you can use tweeters. They are really worth it.

burgernuds 01-23-2009 04:50 PM

i actually removed the tweeters after installing them. they were really painful on my ears.

You probably need to adjust your headunit to turn down your highs, or to turn up the mids or lows.

lowlife9 02-02-2009 08:05 AM

i have component mb quart 4''half front 6''half back and the sound clarity is amazing across all types of music .would also recommend diamond audio .also when buying tweeters metal ones tend to really high pitchy
for a softer more precise sound i recommend silk dome.

burgernuds 02-03-2009 08:27 PM

my rear speakers are 4 ways with 2 tweeters on each and that was over kill on my ears. To have the tweeters on the sail panel really messed me up for a few hours

lowlife9 02-03-2009 08:41 PM

do u have a equalizer u must tweek to eaven out turn the treble down

burgernuds 02-04-2009 06:34 AM

my trebel was at zero. i dont have anything to change my hi, mids, or lows.

lowlife9 02-04-2009 09:52 AM

the cool thing about the mb quarts is i can choose between 6 and 8 db rite from the crossover before evan messing with the equalizer .

sounds like you have a crappy headunit
maybe that's your SQ problem
