Upgraded speakers on stock head unit?
Well, my rear speakers have been blown since I got my car last year. I got a pair for christmas, and have finally found time to install them. My only concern is that these arent top notch speakers (namebrand: XXX), and being 400W speakers, how they will sound on my stock head unit.
Im going to replace them anyways, because of the amount of crackling I hear when the sound is barely turned up, but will how bad will it sound? And how much better will it sound if I upgrade the head unit?
Thanks!

RE: Upgraded speakers on stock head unit?
For a stock head unit, with aftermarket speakers
there is a chance that the speakerswill be underpowered
therefore, not sounding their greatest.
I have always found that if you want better sound, get a better head unit (aka something other than stock)
resulting in more power going to your speakers, resulting in better sounding speakers.
There of course is the alternative of getting an amp to power your rear speakers, but that gets obnoxious sometimes.
Just go with a better head unit.

RE: Upgraded speakers on stock head unit?
the single best upgrade to a stock sound system is replacing the stock speakers. a aftermarket headunit will not only give you more power to the new speakers but will give you more range in which to tune them. but even the best aftermarket headunits will supply only about 1/3rd of the rms rating for aftermarket speakers and thats where a 4 channel amp comes in. here are the upgrades in order imo
1) new interior speakers
2) new headunit
3) amp to power interior speakers
4) amp to a sub
