Lost my spec sheet when I bought my Alpine R12, anyone know the specs on a ported enclosure?

Oh any my vote goes for the AQ SDC2.5....louder than the type R and louder than two type E's

 

agreed my 8's are amazing

 

Witht the same amount of power (500 watts) and the same style of enclosures for both speakers the twin type E's should be louder. With the same amount of power and double the surface area it shouldn't be hard to be louder given that the E's and the R are ported. Two ported E's will take up more room and weigh more than a single ported type R though.

Yeah, I know it was an old'ish thread but I figured better late than never.

If weight is a consideration, the R and a ported enclosure will be lighter than two E's in a ported enclosure and it'll take up less room. And even though it's "only" rated at 500 watts the R can handle quite a bit more. Some of the voice coil / former cooling methods Alpine employ's in the R's works really well.

I'm going the opposite direction (away from large loud ported alignments), but I used to be into that kind of stuff.

I just purchased a Stereo Integrity Mag v4. My last sub before it was a TC9 based driver in a ported enclosure. I wanted something that had less distortion, was lighter, and could fit into smaller spaces (less mounting depth). So far the Mag is pretty impressive. Output is down, but that's to be expected going from a big ported box to a tiny sealed box. SQ is WAAAAY up though! My first dip into XBL^2 listening was a Brahma 15 and ever since then I've always wanted something with XBL^2 because it was sooooo clean.
