im looking to get some good speakers in my 98' civic ex. Im thinking about some alpine type r speakers but didn't know what size to get for the back speakers, i didn't want to take out the panel and have to put it back in and then wait for the speakers to get shipped just to do it again.

Uh, I have 5 x 7s in mine. They are 6.5s in the front, but the rear is 5x7s.

 

i'm sure you can get 6"x9"s in the rear

i know i can in my hatch

 

Oh, hell yeah you can fit 6x9s. But the 5x7s just fit like a glove. Plus you can pick them up most of the time for about 3/4 what you pay for 6x9s they kick butt!

figured the mounting bracket wouldn't be big enough... or do ya get some sorta extension clip/plate... or am I missing something (never seen stock speakers, previous owner swapped em... i just fixed the cabling, stereo, window, etc....)

 

yeah i measured them and they are 6.5 in the front and 6x9 in the back, thanks

 

No problem. Just be ready for a fight getting to the rear ones. LOL Its a pain in the @$$ getting the rear seats and all the panels out.

 

i already got out the rear seat and panels (i work auto body so for me its easy) because i ordered a c-pillar bar but they sent me the incorrect size. They dont make one for this car i have heard from them. im a machinist so im going to make some small extensions so it will it.

i work auto body and im going to a tech school for machining, helps when i need stuff made for my car

 

Oh I know how that goes. I am a welder and at my tech school, I have access to the welding shop, the machine shop and the auto shop. It is so nice!!!
