Default what speakers?

i want to buy all around speakers for my 98 civic ex i want them to sound very clear and crisp as well as some bump (without buying subs) what are the best to buy....tweeters, front speakers and rear speakers and how much for a good set. i will then buy subs if i want to in the near future. more focused on my inside speakers first. i would prefer them to be all the same brand...but if not. thats ok i also have an after market headunit installed thanks

i'd get a Pioneer 6 1/2" component system for the front and Pioneer 6x9's for the back. Pioneer seems to be pretty good for bass, and 6x9's are pretty good speakers for bass.

I really love my Sony setup, but the regular speakers aren't so good for bass. I have subwoofers though and have my regular speakers' bass turned down so i don't care. Sony speakers have great mids and highs, but not that great for bass. Their 6x9's are fine for a little bass though.

Do you plan to get a sub anytime in the (near) future? Because that will affect your choice

If you don't want to get subs but want good quality speakers with a lot of bass then some alpine's would be my first choice. I have pioneers in my car and they are nice but I like the alpine type r's a bit more; they have great bass but mids and highs arent all distorted, but if you plan to get a sub in the future they would not be good cuz they already have alot of bass and adding in a sub would cause some distortion in most cases.

If you are considering subs in the future then Infinity's are great speakers to look into, most have really clear highs and mids with moderate bass, but when you pair them with a sub you have pounding bass but the highs and mids are still real crisp, my friend has them front and rear. He doesn't have them wired to a sub anymore and they still sound good, but for pure bass my pioneers are better although I like the clearness of the infinity's.

Go to your local BestBuy or something similar and they usually have speakers set up that you can listen to in their automotive/car audio areas. My 2 cents is: no subs go with alpines, plans for subs anytime soon then go with infinity's or at least something with less bass than the alpine type r's

Also, if you don't want to spend a fortune, you can put some Alpine Type S 6.5 inchers in your doors. I have some and I can say they sound pretty good off of head unit power, versus the Type R where you will NEED to amplify them to get a decent amount of CLEAN output!

Unfortunately, my type S coaxes will be switched to rear fill duty because I want to stick some comps in the doors when I add my subwoofer!

I love my Infinity's very clean sound, add a couple 12" comp kicker subs to them an you have a very nice sound, great bass an very clean mids an highs

Some aftermarket head units will play the type r's quite nicely (output is sufficient AND clean) without an amp actually. Mine for example has a 250W built in amp and when I put that in it made a huge difference in sound over the stock honda one, even though my speakers were exactly the same. My friend has the next version of my deck (still with a built in mini-amp) in his corolla and runs type r's front and back and I prefer them to my pioneers. Although a bigger amp would get even more out of them i'm sure. I am not saying anything against the type s speakers tho, they also sound good and are a bit cheaper.

I don't personally have them in my car but I know exactly what you mean (see previous post), they gotta be one of my favorites when combined with a sub

I have the Alpine CDA-9885, and it is a whopping 18 watts RMS per channel. There is no way I would have done Type R Comps without an amplifier. Now that I am adding amps and a sub, I will probably go with Type Rs in the front doors/tweeter pods.
