why does the box have to be a name brand? its just wood and carpet. The only big name brand box that I know is q-logic...and they're no better than anything else i've bought/built

The only thing that makes a box a box is the airspace more or less. Any type of wood is going to work, and the carpeting is cheap, even if you find one without carpet for 20 bucks you can put your own carpet on it for like 10 more.

We have several pawn shops, most of them carry a box or two, ebay works too but shipping will cost ya.

If you have to have something nice hit bestbuy or circuit city or somewhere and buy one from them.

The box is a very large part of the system... dont crap out on the box, or you will end up paying more in the long run getting new boxes... or replacing your subs because they bottomed out... anyway, just get a well built box.

I got a box off ebay for I42 bucks shipped, it was a dual 12" 1.5cu/ft 3/4" mdf seperate chamber sealed box. The box arrive with out issue, I've had it installed for over two years now with zero issues and I've not found a leak.... It's really easy to go in once you get the box and add extra sealent to the walls and joints.... Just make sure it's actually MDF not particle board, as well as 3/4" thick MDF...
