Where to get the audio for my amp?
ORIGINAL: cowsgonemadd3
I just want to clear up what I am saying and trying to do.
My STOCK radio deck has NO rca plugs. It has a standard or stock BLUE plug on it with 14 wires coming off of it. Many colors.
I have a amplifier and I want to amp 2 componets in the doors and 2 subs in the trunk. I have a connector that came with the amp that has 8 input wires on it.
What I want to know is what wires do I use to connect all the speakers listed above. I really want to install it tomorrow.

If you're looking for something like that then go get yourselfan aftermarket radio.
Its gonna be hard, your gonna have to find out which color wire is for what speaker and splice into it to wire it to the speaker you want. Depends how many channels your amp has also.
Okay so if nobody has a wire diagram the easiest way is for me to get a new radio:
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=5645812
Then is simply plug and play correct?
I get a headache thinking of wiring and splicing and such all because I wont upgrade my cheap stock radio to a HD radio like I have wanted anyways....
My next question. My two alpines type r speakers in the doors are 4ohm and I think so are the MTX 4500 subs in the back. What type of settings on my amp do I need to mess with if any once I put the RCA cables in?
Oh and will that radio above just connect to my stock wire harness or will I need a adapter and does walmart sell it or radio shack? I am going wayyyy over budget in a hurry starting tomorrow ha ha. But wiring would be a mess.
Without the rca cables I would have to:
Find out what colors do what to what speaker
Splice onto and cut the needed wires
Run 8 wires back to the trunk for the speakers
Run another wire for the remote
And whatever else.
With the rca I just run the 4 rca ends to the back. There are supposed to be 4 correct? On the back of the new Unit?

OK first, if you're willing to spend around $130-$140 go and invest in something that is worth that price
such as alpine, pioneer, etc.
Jensen and JVC are on the lower end, and those prices are ridiculous.
For $139.99 you can get yourself a nice Alpine headunit with Iplug HD radio readyand blah blah blah.
Go check out woofersetc.com
They have some great deals on there.
Next, you always have to get a wiring harness.
It ends up going, car wiring harness (comes out of the car), wiring harness, then wiring that comes out of the back of your aftermarket radio.

I just installed the Jensen HD5212 into my car tonight and it sounds great. I had a previous Jensen MP3 cd player unit and it was excellent also. I refuse to install really expensive audio gear into my car after having my Alpine get ripped off years ago.
I personally got the HD5212 because of HD radio and SD card support. I use music SD cards in my work computer. No skipping if you hit a bump, it's solid state, and no motors to wear out or laser lenses to get dirty. I may never use the mp3 cd capability of my deck. Oh, it has a USB thumb drive plug on the front also. Bonus.
It took me all of about 2 hours to install the HD5212 in my car tonight with fully soldered and insulated joints. I took a little ride around and cranked up some mp3's from a SD card. Thumbs up! See my "Budget digital audio" post. . .

No Amp installation is plug and plan man, haha...Be prepared to solder or tap some wires.
Either get the new HU, or get the line adapter and find an accessory wire just like My04civic suggested. The harness (plug with all the wires) coming out of the amp could be a number of things. Read the instructions for which is which.
Neccessary connections for the Amp:
Line In: Either RCA from HU, or adapters
Power: From Battery
Ground: Nearby Bolt connecting to chassis, sand clean to get good ground
Remote: Accessory from radio to tell amp when it's on.
Read the whole thread and try searching on whatever terms your unfamiliar with.. Or try the links provided in this thread.

Ok, your plan is cool but you are making the one fatal mistake: haste.
If you have a great idea, but one thing is nagging you, but you are in a hurry, then STOP.
Do not rush wiring jobs! You MUST be extremely carefull and double-check everything. If you are tired or wasted, then leave it for tomorrow. There is no "it has to be done by tomorrow" because that is impossible. The more fatigued you are the more likely you are to screw something up. There is no job that is so important that it can't wait one more day.
Do NOT work on something until you are confident about it and have a discrete plan. If the job goes way beyond your estimate, then controll the damage and make the job usable, then re-think the job and re-quote the customer. Say, "we did this and that but then X happened, it cost us Y labor but we found out that we have to fix Z. Do you want us to continue?"
There is no "it has to be done by tomorrow" when it comes to mechanical repairs, trust me, I am a Mechanical Engineer. You do the best you can, you figure out what the problem is, and you correct it. Maybe if you had me on your car it would be done by tomorrow but I charge $3000 per hour for freelance work. I'd say wait a couple days and think about it. Surf the net grasshopper.
