Default Need to be manual?

My car is going to be undergoing an auto to manual swap over winter but id like to do an AutoX event before winter comes. Does my car really need to be stick to do it?

not at all. launch in D1 then shift to D2 and leave it there till ur finished ur run.

what should i do for suspension? Ive tried launching in the lower gears before and it just seems to be slower.

i'd strongly suggest leaving ur car as is. just go out to an event or 2 to get some experience then start thinking about suspension.
