From Trinidad........alternator

RE: From Trinidad........alternator
Connect a Voltmeter to the "B" terminal on the alternator, under the boot, and a good ground. Start engine and hold rpm at 3000rpm with no load until rad fan starts, then go to idle. Now raise speed to 2000rpm and turn on the headlights. Is the voltage between 13.6 volts and 15.4volts. Turn on blower motor and rear window defogger, is voltage around 13volts. Load her right up, brake lights stereo, etc, is voltage less than 13 volts. If you can read the amperage at it is less than 60amps in this fully loaded condition then your alternator is most likely okay. If the amps are hi then you may have a bad alternator or other component in the system causing problems. Hope this helps.
