Stain removal tip that really works...
Some may know of this but I didn't and thought I would share...
My wife recently spilled a full glass of red koolaid on ourlightbeige carpet. [:@]I tried all kinds ofstain remedies to no avail.Lots of hints and tips from the internet and nothing seemed to work. I still hadthis huge, unsightly, pinkish stainright in the middle of our living room! Finally, I ran upon thisremedy and it cleaned it up like new... I tried it in my wife's Protege (beige interior as well) on some stains I couldn't get out and it removed themtoo.
What's needed...
[ul][*]Clean white cloth ( I used a small white terry towel)...[*]Steam iron...[*]Ammonia ( I used clear windex with ammonia)...[/ul]
Three simple steps...(As always with any stain removal method or producttest in an incon****uous area for colorfastness)
[ul][*]Spray the stain withammonia product (I soaked it)[*]Placewhite towel over the stain[*]Move steam iron back and forth over stained area (you can also wrap the towel around the iron for more friction if needed)[/ul]
You will see the stain start to come up immediately into the towel. Turn to a clean portion and continue until stain is completey gone. I then followed up with carpet cleaner over the entire carpet area as this getsthe pre-stained areaextremely clean and makes the rest of your carpet look dingy.
Carpet stain was 1 week old and it removed another old red stain from last year as well. The car seat stain was dark brown (forget what it was from) about 6 months old. Both fabrics retained their color. The house carpet nap became a little frayed but returned to normal after a few days. Finally, an internet remedy that actually works!
