Default Adjusting A/F Ratio with the bare minimum...

Alright, i thought of somethign that could save alot of money on a wideband o2 meter. It would be a very crude way of adjusting your A/F Ratio....but theoretically, could you buy an A/F Ratio gauge, install it, buy an adjustable aftermarket FPR, install it, and then read your A/F ratio gauge and if it read Lean, raise the fuel pressure and if it read Rich, lower the fuel pressure, and get your A/F ratio perfect without getting a wideband o2 sensor or using a dyno?

Just a ridiculous idea, so take it easy....just brainstorming.

Doesnt work.. i tried that.. i installed B&M FPR and Gauge,, with a Faze A/F ratio gauge.. running at 48 PSI right now.. but A/F doesnt ever read accurate.. just a peice of trash.. Haynes shows stock PSI at 38/46.. so hopefully 48 isnt overkill with I/H/E

unless you have a wideband A/F gauge, you are shooting in the dark, the pitch black dark.

u cant turn your car on, read the gauge, shut the car off, adjust the FPR to more or less/fuel pressure, then turn the car back on and re-check the gauge?

Dunno how much different the wideband is but if you are adjusting for WOT then you would have to drive the car to see where its at before adjusting.. the fuel pressure changes while driving of course vs just idle..plus you have warm up time which will change the pressure also

The problem with narrowband a/f gauges is they are innacurate. The gauge could say green but really you are on the lean side.

like i said, a ridiculous idea. Just a very crude/desperate way to tune your A/F ratio.

In theory it's a good idea. But unfortunately due to the gauge it could make it dangerous.

Are wideband gauges like permant gauges that you install? How do they work compared to just the gauge that you install in your pillar pod?

A wideband uses it's own O2 sensor, different type from the one your ECU uses.
