Are all OBD1's re-chippable?
Seems like they would be, but if i got a p28 ECU from Phearable.net with just a basemap so i could drive to the Dyno, would the ECU be totally re-chippable once i got there (since it was already chipped once for the basemap)?
ORIGINAL: Forty04
You only ever chip an ECU one time, unless you change engine managements. What they will do once you get to the dyno, is re-tune the same chip that contains the basemap.

yea thats waht i was talking about, like getting the basemap done, then driving to the dyno, having them dyno my car, and make the adjustments to the basemap. thanks though

Skrapdoggydog did you tune after you got the new ECU?
i did not get a new ECU, i just got my ecu chipped. i sent my ecu to phearable they put a chip with a basemap on it for the specs i sent them. then i went to the tuner and they tuned my car by "retuning" my chip to get optimum power out of my engine.
oh aight. Did they have to make many changes to the basemap? I read a few testimonials where they said when they went to dyno it they barely made any changes since the basemap so realy acurate already.
yea they mad some pretty big changes b/c phearable's chip is conservative for ur cars mods. The tuner will try to safely suck out all the horsepower they can. It took about 3 hours and 20-25 dyno pulls to get it right. U will feel a big difference when leave the tuning shop! it's great!!
