Default bad gas mileage, 25.8mpg what do do?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forum, but not to Honda ownership. I've had a couple of civics and a crx over the years. My current car is 2003 civic dx 4 doors with about 93k. It's been getting terrible mileage as of late - 25.8mpg! I have never had a honda that sucked that much gas. Is it possible that the culprit is my new winter tires? I put a set of ws60 blizzaks on about a month and a half ago. Otherwise nothing is out of the ordinary, the car runs fine, no idiot lights are on... Anyway I saw something about air filters, and I'm going to put a new one in today (K&N). Any suggestions what else I should try?

Read through my "Code 45" post here and see if it sound familiar.

put in K&N filter and put a bottle of techron in the tank, mileage back in the 30's! I was sceptical about how much difference an air filter would make, but the car seems more responsive, it even sounds different, so much better than the stock air filter definitely worth a few extra bucks

Yea, I have noticed this also. Yesterday I calculated 28mpg HWY, as compared to the 33-36mpg I normally get with the same route and driving style.

Oddly, this happenedabout the same time thatI stopped using BP gas only (I like BP for some reason - it just feels cleaner. all the ones around here are really nice). Possibly the other gas stations are watering it down. I'm gonna run the next couple tanks on BP and see if there's a difference.

So what is it that they are using to "water down" the gas?

yea all i use is bp and i get my best gas milage from there...i have herd of them actually using water to dillute it. my brothers car started to run like crap one time and he just had done a tune-up on his car so it was from that. so he put some stabilizer in his car and went to a different gas station then the one he had been using never had any problems since.
