check engine light

I have a 1998 Honda Civic EX a/t. I am trying to get it smogged. The car runs fine no problems, the check engine light never comes on while driving. The car failed because the check light come on during the obd2 check. They were saying the car needed to be driven to reset the ecu. So I did and it had the same problem. Can someone out there help me out.
Thank you for your time

RE: check engine light

Hey Well I have had that problem so what I did was i either stuck my key in the gauge cluster bext to the mileage reset, or you can down where your ecu is where they hook up a ecu check you can take a paper clip and put in into the 2 plugs and it should take it off thats what Mine did.
Hope it helps

disconnect your battery for a few minutes to reset it, not drive it around
